A Christ Church man who beat up his “child mother” was released on $3 000 bail Monday and ordered to stay away from her.

Marlon Terry Martyr, 30, of Harts Gap, pleaded guilty to assault, trespassing and unlawful property damage when he appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that on January 27 Martyr entered the dwelling house of Saeeda King and caused bodily harm to Olivia Burgess, with whom he had a son. He kicked in the door of Burgess’ room, unlocked the deadbolt and proceeded to punch her several times in the face.

Magistrate Frederick said some “vital  information” was missing from the story, and he told Martyr he had to verify whether an arrangement was made for King to be paid $350 for the door and labour. The money Burgess spent for the doctor and treatment of her facial injuries was also to be determined.

Martyr is to return to court on March 16 and the magistrate warned him that he might have to pay some money. (YB)
