Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Francis Henderson Lorde, 49, of Seaview Park, Long Bay, St Philip.

Lorde became the island latest road fatality around 7:55 this morning along Brereton Road, St Philip.

He was the front seat passenger of a car being driven by his girlfriend 56-year-old Valdene Burton, of Hannays Valley, Christ Church, when the car became involved in a side-on collision with a lorry being driven by Ken Williams, 49, of Four Roads, St Philip.

Lorde died at the scene, whilst his girlfriend was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance, complaining of pains in her back, left side, and neck. Her condition is listed as stable. The driver of the lorry did not complain of pain, but was traumatised as a result of the collision.

Two fire tenders, and eight Fire Officers under the command of Divisional Officer Errol Gaskin, responded to the accident. The Jaws of Life was utilised to extricate Burton and the Lorde from the car. (PR)
