Who will be the next world superpower?
According to Pastor Deborah Spooner, it will be none other than Jesus Christ.
Speaking during the Seventh-Day Adventists’ Road To Freedom Bible seminar recently, Spooner said: “The God of Heaven is coming soon and He will set up His Kingdom.”
She told those gathered under a tent at St Matthias, Christ Church that many people continued their search about what was going to happen in the future, and mighty men of the world were seeking to be the next world power. She noted, however, that according to the Scriptures, Jesus Christ would be the one.
“Many are searching for knowledge about what’s ahead. People rely on astrologists, tarot cards, crystal balls and Ouija boards. The mighty men of the world each seek to be the next superpower, but the Word of God has clearly revealed to us what is ahead. The Book of Daniel opens up to us, in no uncertain terms, exactly what is going to take place way into the future. [It] tells us clearly who the next great Superpower will be!”
Spooner called on her listeners to learn to pray like Daniel and specifically about their bills, relationships, children, examinations and the future.
She referenced Isaiah 65:24 where she noted God promised that before His people called on Him, He would answer and while they were yet speaking, He would hear.
“The most important reason why we should pray is because our salvation depends upon it,” she added.
The minister stressed that Daniel was the only one who knew the answer to King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and this was because of His relationship with God.
“The psychics, astrologers, obeah men, clairvoyants, spiritualists do not know the future. We need to stop depending on man and depend on God and His Word.
“God gave the king a dream which revealed the history of the world from his time right until the end of this world.”
She chronicled Babylon as the head of gold (605-539 BC); Persia as the chest and arms of silver (539-331 BC); Greece as the thighs of bronze (331-268 BC); Rome as the legs of iron (168 BC-476 AD) and a divided Europe as the feet of iron and clay (476 AD).
“All these powers came and went exactly as the Bible predicted. If the Bible has been so accurate about past history, then we can rely on the Bible to predict the future,” Spooner declared.
“We are now living in the very toenails of time. According to prophecy, the God of Heaven is going to set up His Kingdom. Jesus Christ is coming again. He will bring the world as we know it to an end.
In light of these facts, we need to ask ourselves some important questions: Am I ready? Is Jesus my personal Saviour? Am I ready to face the future? Where will I spend eternity and am I saved?”
She told her listeners they ought to be holy and to put away such things as the rum bottle, immorality, lying, partying and a worldly lifestyle. (CH)
