One team have been there, done that – quite a few times too. The other will be there for the first time.

Four-time champions Fusionz Boutique Passage Juniors and first-time finalists Empire Juniors will clash in the final of the Barbados Cricket Supplies Under-13 Tournament at the Wanderers Club Ground, Dayrells Road, Sunday.

It will be the seventh final for Passage in the nine-year history of the tournament. After marching to the championship match with an unblemished record, they have been installed as favourites for the 35-overs-a-side contest, which bowls off at 11:30 a.m.

Passage Juniors were especially impressive in their semi-final against Wanderers, scoring a tournament-high 353 for four that included a record unbeaten 184 from Joshua Morris that paved the way for a massive victory by 178 runs.

It was Morris’ second century of the tournament and it carried his aggregate to 402 runs. Teammate Rashad Worrell has been even more outstanding with 459 runs and 18 wickets.

Empire advanced to the final following victories in successive days in their replayed quarter-final against Pickwick and in the semi-finals against Co-operators General Insurance St Catherine Barracudas. However, they will go into the final as underdogs, as they lost by 171 runs when they met Passage Juniors in the preliminaries.

The “Blues” will be pinning their hopes on captain Nathan Sealy, their leading run-scorer with 264 runs. All-rounder Rodney Greenidge, who scored a half-century and took 13 wickets, will also be a key player. (HG/PR)
