Upset child father threatens ex’s police boyfriend

They had an understanding that they would not bring each other’s new partners to their homes for the sake of their four-year-old daughter.

So, said Nicholas Akeem Charles-St Hill, when he saw the boyfriend of his child’s mother, he got upset, since her actions were what led to the arrangement.

The 25-year-old auto technician of St Michael, was in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court last week, where he pleaded guilty to using the threatening words: “Come out from in there, man. I gine kill you tonight self. Come out. I gine kill you, big man. I gine shoot you. I don’t care if you in uniform or not, big man. I gine kill you,” to Jared Headley, who was a policeman, on March 11, with intent to cause another person to believe that unlawful violence would be used against Headley.

Charles-St Hill explained that while the relation between the woman and him had ended about a year ago, she got upset because he entered a relationship with another woman.

“She would hassle me. She would pick a fight because she don’t want no female ’round she daughter,” he said.

“So we come to an agreement that we would not bring other people home,” the first-time offender told the court. He added that the woman denied she allowed her boyfriend to be at her house.

“So the night I went there, this same man was there in [boxers]. When I saw that, knowing that I agree, knowing her bad behaviour, I got upset. But I didn’t threaten to shoot him,” Charles-St Hill claimed.

“I told her it is not fair,” he said.

However, Magistrate Douglas Frederick warned him about the seriousness of the threat and told him: “Do not make any arrangement that nobody is to come around. That is not going to work.”

He placed Charles-St Hill on a bond for six months which, if breached, carried a $500 forthwith fine or three months in prison.

The magistrate also ordered him to undergo counselling with the Family Services Unit, facilitated by the Probation Department.

Charles-St Hill returns to court on May 11.

Prosecutor Sergeant Rudy Pilgrim had told the court that Headley was a police officer and the friend of a young lady who had a child with Charles-St Hill. The complainant was at the residence of the woman, when Charles-St Hill arrived to drop off his daughter.

Charles-St Hill saw the man and used the threats to Headley who became “petrified” and called for help.

Charles-St Hill then left, went home and returned with a weapon, beckoning the complainant to come out of the house. He further threatened the man. (HLE)
