SHARON BOYCE yesterday described shooting victim Jason Shem Antonio Husbands as a loving father and boyfriend.

She was testifying on Day 1 of the murder trial of Kason Kemar Edwards, 30, of Gays, St Peter, who is accused of the shooting death of Husbands in 2012.

Boyce, who has a 13-year-old daughter for Husbands, told the No. 2 Supreme Court that on that fateful day, they were at home in Mount Brevitor, St Peter, as both she and her boyfriend were on vacation.

“He had cut the lawn, and started to cook. We had a conversation and he left the house.”

She said that sometime later she received a message. She made three calls to Husbands’ aunt and dad, and her sister. His father eventually called her back and said that “something had happened to Jason”. That was when she found out he was dead, she added, as she broke into tears.

Shaking, she identified Husbands’ toolbox which was entered as evidence. She also pointed out Edwards as the man she saw in the Speighstown police station who was present in 2014, when she went to identify and initial the toolbox.

Forensic photographer Constable Roger Barrow also gave evidence on 38 photos which he took at the crime scene in Lamberts, St Lucy, and additional photos taken in 2014.

Hazel Collymore also took the stand, and testified that Husbands had visited her home on the day in question to fix a gas leak on her stove.

“My daughter got someone to come and look at it. To this day I do not know his name, and I don’t know him; I never met him before,” she said.

She added the deceased technician had finished fixing the leak just after 3:p.m. and left by van, which she said looked similar to the ones in the photos.

Altogether, nine people gave evidence yesterday.

The matter continues today.
