There was a spectacular display of talent as the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) hosted a floodlit tattoo at the Dover Playing Field, Christ Church, on Thursday night as part of the annual Oistins Fish Festival.

The spectacle was led by commander for the night, Inspector Anderson Whitehall, who ensured there was something of interest for all who turned out to witness the event.

The mounted troops displayed their skills in a varied section featuring musical sacks – similar to musical chairs. Biggie Irie’s Crop Over hit song Can’t Be Over was a perfect track for this activity. Defending champion officer Toppin showed his skill on steed Combat to come out on top again.

There was a drill display led by Station Sergeant Richard Parris. Some patrons were startled by the quick bangs during the gun salute.

Cheerleading squad Dynasty Cheer Academy brought their A-game with a dance and gymnastics-type routine; while the canine section did a patrol routine demonstration, which evoked squeals of delight from the children present. The drill squad performed to the popular Boots by Gabby and Lil Rick’s Go Dung.

While it was a night of entertainment, it was also one with a message. A scenario with “Bad Boy Rick”, who was caught with illegal drugs and a firearm”, displayed the determination and skill of members of the constabulary to fight crime. The role and effectiveness of the canine division was highlighted in this arrest. (MR)
