Two men and a 16-year-old girl stood in the dock of the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday accused of having a gun and bullets.

Jakobi Talik Germaine, 21, of 8th Avenue, New Orleans; Damian Winston DaCarlos Ambrose, 34, of Spruce Street, and Kiana Krisana Shepherd, 16, of Queen Street, all in St Michael, were not required to plead to illegal possession of a firearm and seven rounds of ammunition last Friday. Prosecutor Station Sergeant Samuel Hinds did not disclose where the gun was found.

All three, who are unemployed, were remanded to HMP Dodds until May 14. Only Shepherd and Germaine were represented by counsel.

Meanwhile, Germaine pleaded guilty to being in possession of 1.7 grammes of cannabis on the same day.

The prosecutor told Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant that police executed a search warrant at his home. A bag containing vegetable matter was found in a pants pocket. When asked to account for the illegal drug, Germaine said: “It is mine.”

His attorney submitted: “He is not known, and although there is a more serious charge, I ask that sentence be deferred.”

Shepherd was charged with unlawful possession of 6.2 grammes of cannabis.

The court heard that police executed a search warrant in Nelson Street, The City, where the teen was present. Her clothing was searched and a number of Ziplock bags containing vegetable matter, suspected to be cannabis, were found. When asked to account for the drug, she said: “Dem is mine.”

Her lawyer requested that sentencing be deferred, to which the magistrate agreed.

Ambrose had also been accused of assaulting Sanna Adams, occasioning her actual bodily harm, on March 27, 29 and 31. However, Adams opted not to continue with the matter and the case was dismissed. (RA)
