Bayview Hospital YMPC blitzed ICBL Empire in a hail of boundaries to open their Sagicor Twenty20 Phase 2 campaign with an upset six-wicket victory at Bank Hall yesterday.

After restricting the hosts to a modest 127 for seven in the second match of a double header, the visitors romped to 130 for four to win with 3.4 overs to spare.

Stocky Shakib Kellman capitalised on a rapid start from brothers Dwayne and Kemar Smith to stun the “Blues” with a boundary-studded, unbeaten 53 off 35 balls. His eight fours and four threes, all gathered with supreme authority, were well received by the sizeable crowd.

Empire owed their total to all-rounder Justin Greaves’ polished 58 not out, as they lost wickets at regular intervals and did not help their cause by losing the key wickets of skipper Kevin Stoute and experienced wicketkeeper Jamal Smith to run outs. (WH)
