Class 4 pupils of St Lawrence Primary School are better prepared to take on today’s Barbados Secondary Schools Entrance Examination, thanks to Resolution Life Assurance Company Ltd (ResLife).

The Worthing, Christ Church insurance company yesterday presented 25 students of the nearby primary school with 11-Plus exam kits.

A total of 3 426 students are set to write this year’s exam, the results of which will determine the public secondary school they will attend.

This is 96 more compared to last year. The Ministry of Education stated this number comprised 1 738 boys and 1 688 girls registered to write the test at 22 secondary schools.

This year, 14 have requested permission to sit at an early age (ten years). The exam will also be taken by 148 non-nationals.

Chief executive officer of ResLife, Cheryl Senhouse, reminded the 18 girls and seven boys that while the 11-Plus was important, it was a stepping stone. (PR)
