The Elective Synod of the Anglican Church is yet to elect a bishop, even after three ballots today.

Just after 4 p.m. the priests and laity agreed to adjourn the proceedings until a later date when they will make a third attempt.

The session began at 9:30 this morning at the Christ Church Parish Church Centre after a deadlocked election on April 25 at which there were four ballots.

The laity today remained overwhelmingly behind Reverend John Rogers while the priests were still leaning heavily towards Dean Dr Jeffrey Gibson.

Three more priests came out to vote today but no candidate was able to get the required two-thirds majority. (GC)
