Pat Callender read riveting excerpts from his first book at its launch at the National Union of Public Workers’ headquarters last week, and Governor General Dame Sandra Mason headed the list of the invited guests.

Also there were President of the Senate Sir Richard Cheltenham; former Minister of Education Sir Louis Tull; former Attorney General and Minister of External Affairs, Sir Henry Forde; Minister of Creative Economy and Culture John King, and Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Cynthia Forde.

Callender said he was among friends, and seated among the large audience were luminaries who played pivotal roles in the various areas of Barbados’ development, which the former Seawell Airport manager highlights in his book aptly entitled, Flight Paths & Missing Connections @ Barbados.

Master of ceremonies was Sir Henry Fraser. Entertaining musical interludes were also provided by the author’s friend, retired banker Harry Russell, who played steel pan to the delight of many who were unaware of that side of him, and head of the performing arts programme at the Barbados Community College, Roger Gittens, on keyboard.
