Cave Shepherd All Stars has redeemed themselves this year for the Pic-O-De-Crop semi-finals. Eight from their tent will have a chance to make the finals when they judge next week Friday.
Stray Cats have purred their way in with two. Rounding out the semis is one from Super Gladiators, four from House of Soca and three from De Big Show with Classic − also from the Big Show − as the reserve.
Eleanor Rice, tent manager of All Stars, was emotional as she celebrated her tent taking the lions share.
“I am very happy. Based on last year numbers we redeemed ourselves. I am hard on my singers but this is why. I am so proud of them.”
Sharon Carew White has four in, down from seven last year.
“This four was also in the semi-finals last year. I had two more to get in but I am pleased with these.”
Quite a number of calypsonians, stakeholders, National Cultural Foundation officials and even defending monarch iWeb were present at the Derrick Smith Vocational Centre when event producer AJA and Corporate Communications Specialist Simone Codrington called the names of the 18 after the judges deliberated for an hour and an half. (NS)
