Three men accused of kidnapping and theft were just granted bail in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court.

They are Renalto Cameron Barnard, a 36-year-old security guard, of 4th Avenue Pickwick Gap, Westbury Road, St Philip; Stevan Uros Greaves, an electrician, 38, of Ellis Road, Halls Road, St Michael and Omar Ahmad Bashiti, a 51-year-old manager, of No. 242 Marcus Drive Crystal Heights, St James.

The men, who are represented by defence counsel Angella Mitchell-Gittens and Shantelle Murrell-Hinkson, were not required to plead to unlawfully removing Karen Thompson from Rock Dundo without her consent on July 20.

Bashiti, who is also the owner of the chain of No. 1 Beauty Supply stores, pleaded not guilty to stealing $700 belonging to Thompson on the same date.

Meanwhile Barnard and Bashiti were not required to plead to entering the dwelling house of Thompson as trespassers with intent to commit an arrestable offence, also on July 20. This alleged offence occurred in the District “D” jurisdiction.

While prosecutor Station Sergeant Samuel Hinds made strong arguments objecting to bail, Magistrate Douglas Frederick granted each man bail.

Bashiti was placed on $15 000 bail; Barnard on $12 000, and Greaves on $10 000. They were also all warned to stay away from the complainant and ordered to be processed.

They all return to the District “A” court on November 7, while Bashiti and Barnard are scheduled to appear in the District “D” court on August 8. (RA)
