Veteran Sandra Bailey and young Emar Edwards are the respective new female and male champions of the National Cultural Foundation Crop Over Road Tennis Championship which climaxed on Saturday on the Spring Garden Highway.

Both players ignited Bridgetown Market with straight sets victories to claim $500 each and tickets to anywhere LIAT flies in the Caribbean.

Bailey was almost brutal in dismissing Margo Lorde 21-6, 21-12 with only pleas from the spectators seeing Bailey deciding not to go for the double sow.

Earlier, Bailey was tested by another veteran Susan Scantlebury in their semi-finals clash with Bailey needing three games to advance 21-11, 12-21, 21-16.  Lorde’s trip was much easier as her opponent Maudlyn Blunt was a no-show. (KB)
