Ready for the road

Today is the day revellers have been waiting for all year – the Republic Bank Grand Kadooment!

Yesterday, many of the band houses were abuzz with activity, getting things in place for the big jump-up.

Many of the mas bands left nothing to chance this year and avoided the last-minute distribution. The band houses visited yesterday were mostly finished with distribution.

At Aura, in Sheraton Centre, Sargeant’s Village, Christ Church, the band house was full and it was an all-hands-on-deck situation.

However, general manager of Aura, Rondell Jones, said yesterday was just for facilitating people who had minor issues with costumes or any last-minute revellers wanting to get on board.

“We are also making sure to have a Plan B, C or D in place so nothing goes wrong [today],” he said.

Jones said while registration took a little longer than in previous years, they were sold out and would be going on the road with 1 100 revellers. (DB)
