On night shift

Mechanics at the Transport Board are pulling night shifts as the board feverishly works to get more buses on the road.

But the relationships with private workshops are still up in the air and are to be determined by the new board of the state agency, Minister of Transport Dr William Duguid said yesterday.

He was speaking to the DAILY NATION in the wake of a church service, at Sharon Moravian Church, St Thomas, held to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the corporation.

Stressing that the biggest issue facing the Transport Board was bus availability, the minister said night rosters had now been introduced.

“Mechanics are now working at night to be able to get our buses on the road, to get those ones that need to be repaired, repaired as urgently as possible,” he said. (HLE)
