Not enough for U-19

Barbados coach Sherwin Campbell is not in favour of the format used for the just concluded West Indies Regional Under-19 Championships in St Vincent.

Campbell told the NATION he wasn’t really in favour of teams playing just three three-day matches since all the teams did not get an opportunity to play each other.

“I think they should play everyone to see who the true champion is. I don’t know what the format is like for next year, but it is a World Cup year and I think it changes every year depending on what is happening.

“Hopefully they would adopt the five three-days because that assists with long-term development. I guess the board was looking at finance, that’s why they cut the days shorter,” he said. (RG)
