Tridents draw in Guyana

Debutant England-based striker Hallam Hope justified his recent call up to the Barbados Tridents with a double strike to help his team to a valiant 2-2 draw with the Guyana Golden Jaguars in their CONCACAF Nations League Qualifier at the Leonora Track And Field Centre in Guyana.

After being bested in all departments in an absorbing and goalless first half, the Tridents came alive in the latter stages of the second half with Hope on hand to bury two well taken goals after an early set back in the half, but his efforts were cancelled out by a late leveler for the hosts.

Technical director Ahmed Mohammed was pleased with the team display but thought his charges should have picked up the result that mirrored their play.

“The performance was okay, but we didn’t play the way we wanted to play because the outfield was not in a good condition to play our technical game,” he said. (NM)
