A flood warning is in effect for Barbados until 6 a.m. tomorrow.
Barbadians are also being cautioned to remain on the alert and take all necessary precautions to protect life and property.
In the 8 p.m. bulletin from the Barbados Meteorological Services, it was noted that the centre of Tropical Storm Kirk was continuing to move west – northwestward and away from Barbados.
However, Met officials explained that the feeder bands trailing the system have started to move across the island, bringing pockets of moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain and thunderstorms and occasional gusty winds.
Officials also cautioned that large waves and dangerous rip tides could be expected, creating unsafe conditions for small craft operators and fishermen. Sea bathers are also being advised to stay out of the water.
A high surf advisory and small craft warning remain in effect until 6 a.m. Monday.
The next advisory will be 11 p.m. (NATIONNEWS)
