BARBADOS missed out on another chance to medal at the Youth Olympic Games as sprinter Sarah Belle finished 12th overall in the women’s 100 metres hurdles on Sunday.

Running out of Lane 6 in Heat 2 of the final stage of the event, Belle once again had an impressive start but clipped the seventh hurdle before crossing the line in eighth position at the Olympic Park in a time of 14.32.

However, her time combined was 28.38 seconds. The gold medal went to Grace Stark of the United States (26.14), Australian Sophie White took the silver, while Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent claimed bronze despite being escorted off in a wheelchair.

Speaking to NATIONSPORT, Belle, who was inconsolable said: “I would say this was a nice experience [despite I didn’t win]. In this last race I was disappointed, but things happen for a reason. [When I clipped the hurdle] I don’t know what happened at that point of the race.”(AGB)
