Washington University duo remanded until next month

Two men listed as directors of the Washington University of Barbados have been remanded to HMP Dodds until November 12.

Deoraj Jaimangal Dalchand, 33, of No. 3 Jacaranda Circle, Apple Drive, Union Development, and Rao Venkata Gopi, 42 years old, of No. 11 Falcon Crest, Tuscany, Oldbury, both in St Philip were charged with three counts of fraud in relation to the St Philip based Casa Grande Inc, by disbursing $210 000 between three bad cheques between April 1, 2017 and September 1 in the District “C” jurisdiction.

They were also charged with disbursing a bad cheque in the amount of $30 000 to Furniture Limited, sometime between December 28, last year and September 30 in the District “A” jurisdiction.

Gopi (centre), was represented by Queen’s Counsel Roger Forde, while Dalchand was represented by Ajamu Boardi yesterday, when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch in St Matthias Magistrates Court. (RA)
