Trucks, tractors, and other heavy duty equipment are in operation at Vaucluse, St Thomas, where businessman Anderson “Fat Child” Cherry wants to set up a waste facility.

However, Cherry, who in 2016 got into trouble with the Town Planning Department and the Ministry of Health when he set up  without permission and subsequently had to close a recycling plant at Lower Estate, St George, has insisted on this occasion that he was only clearing the land and no facility was  under construction.

Two years ago, he installed huge billboards on the property at Vaucluse and announced that it was the future home of his company Project Recycle Ltd. where he would construct a multimillion-dollar facility that could handle all of Barbados’ garbage and process it for shipping abroad.

NATION investigations revealed that Town Planning has no application on file for such a facility, and permission has not been granted for work to be undertaken. (MB)
