This winter season no visitor to Barbados will be left to face the heat.
That’s because the Grantley Adams International Airport has pushed up its schedule and started a number of major renovations there, according to Minister of Tourism Kerrie Symmonds.
Government received a US$40 million loan last month from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) for airport improvement slated to start in earnest in January, but it felt the need to prioritise some of the work before this year’s winter season which begins on December 15, Symmonds said.
“The work will actually stretch way beyond the winter season. The first thing to be handled is the physical infrastructure at the airport. For the winter season we have already begun an extension at Gate 13 (east of the terminal) and extending it out to Gates 14 and 15,” the minister added. (BA)
