More body scanners are on the cards as the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) tries to address the safety concerns of staff.
Chief executive officer Dr Dexter James said this was among the proposals that would be submitted to the board in the near future to beef up security.
“Violence is a serious public health issue facing the country. We are obligated by law to make sure we have in place a very safe environment for our employees. And very shortly we will be submitting to the board a comprehensive plan that speaks to body scanning at the main entrance,” he said.
If approved, this would be added to the CCTV technology and private security guards. (TG)
