Following discussion today, the Board of the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation has agreed with the Barbados Workers Union on the option of voluntarily separation.

The Union accepted that voluntary separation will be under the same terms and conditions as those who will be retrenched from the Corporation. Those opting for voluntary separation must indicate their willingness to accept the terms and conditions no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, November 9.

CBC indicated to the Union that it will be reducing the staff complement by 52 per cent or 116 people.

Severance payment and payment in lieu of notice for those who choose voluntary separation as well as those who are retrenched will be as outlined in the Severance Payment Act and the Employment Rights Act.

CBC and the Union will be meeting at 2:30 on Monday, November 12. At that time the Corporation will be able to inform the Union as to the number of staff who have opted to voluntarily separate and accepted the terms and conditions as well the remaining positions which will be made redundant. (PR)
