American Chauncey Robinson left nothing to chance this year, having gotten over the hump at long last to finally capture Saturday’s World Surf League (WSL) Thomo QS at the Soup Bowl in Bathsheba.
Competing in overcast conditions, the 20-year-old took down hometown favourites Che Allan and Josh Burke in a pair of hotly-contested one-on-one heats before outscoring Stevie Pittman in the all-American final on the East Coast.
“It’s absolutely amazing because this is the third time I’m coming to Soup Bowl and the first time I’ve ever won.”
“I was always coming here to give it everything I had, so I am glad to finally win a final,” said Robinson mere moments after being lifted off of the beach. (JM)
