THERE WERE MORE QUESTIONS than answers yesterday after the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) met with workers of the Transport Board.
Following a meeting held last Thursday with Transport Board chairman Gregory Nicholls and workers, the BWU met with employees at Solidarity House to discuss the new vision of the board.
However, consultant to the BWU general secretary, Sir Roy Trotman, admitted he could not properly explain Government’s plans to the workers, as the union itself was not too au fait with the new way.
“We specifically met because we wanted to apprise the workers regarding what the Government seems to be entertaining regarding the future of the Transport Board, public transport, from the board’s perspective, and the future of the staff members,” he said.
“As we indicated to the workers, the Government’s position is not in writing, which means that there is nothing yet cast in stone that we could respond to as a firm proposal.”
