The “impossible” is now a reality for Barbados’ top female boxer Kimberly Gittens.

Just when it appeared as if her dream of competing at the Women’s World Boxing Championships in India had fallen through the ropes, the 26-year-old Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games bronze medallist was given the chance to go the distance.

Last month, president of the Barbados Boxing Association (BBA), Richard Atwell, revealed that Gittens would be forced to miss the championships because of insufficient funds.

At the time, Atwell said the estimated cost for both Gittens and her coach Gary Bowen to attend the event was in the region of$16 000 and due to the current financial state, Government was unable to assist. (AGB)
