In a world filled with many misguided young people, there are at least four young men who know exactly where they are going.
They are the Four Shepherds – twins Curtis and Curt Shepherd, 24; Avion Ealeuthere, 21, and 25-year-old Matthew Rock – and they unapologetically sing and spread the message of Jesus Christ.
Ealeuthere said they were given the name by Minister of Youth Affairs Adrian Forde, who heard them sing during the graduation of the Youth Mainstream Programme a few months ago.
After he was impressed by the group, they were invited back to the ministry to meet with Forde, who wrote a song entitled Voices.
NATION Y recently caught up with the group in Suttle Street, Bridgetown, where they were carrying out their outreach programme minus Rock, who was unable to attend due to work commitments.
Despite being fired from his job, Curt said rather than be idle, he saw it as a blessing in disguise as he dedicated more of his time to spreading the Word of God.
Not only do the youngsters sing or ask people to get closer to Christ, they also donate food items which they buy with the little they have.
“I see this as God using us as a light for this generation,” Curt said.
The Four Shepherds are pleading to young people to cease the violence and try to find positive activities.
Though they are not out partying or engaging in the same activities as many of their peers, the young men say they do not feel left out. On the contrary, they are hoping their “light” will rub off on others.
“I want both older and young people to just look around. You see that these are the last days; things that are happening on the earth were not happening before. There are young people who believe going after the lust of the flesh and vanity is all there is to life, but at the end of the day that means nothing because you can’t take any of that with you.
“And no, I’m not saying coming to Christ will be something easy and everything will be sweet, but even through it you will see Christ guiding you,” Curt said.
His brother was in full agreement. “There is more to life than just doing what you want because God designed every single man with a purpose . . . . Our message to all young people is just come to Christ and get to know him,” Curtis added. (TG)
