CONCERNS ABOUT THE WAY in which Government’s retrenchment process is being handled were among the items discussed at yesterday’s meeting of the Social Partnership.
National Union of Public Workers president Akanni McDowall said they pointed out those concerns during the three-and-a-half hour meeting at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
“These included the psychological impact on the officers who were severed and the officers that remained, as well as the improper delivery of information,” he said.
“If there is a need for additional retrenchments, the Government gave us the assurance that the process would be better handled going forward.”
McDowall said additional resources needed to be allocated to the permanent secretaries and personnel officers who were handling the process. (SAT)
