Barrel blues

Just days before Christmas, tensions are running high and some people are frustrated as they try to clear commercial cargo and personal effects for the Christmas holidays.

On Tuesday, some people told THE NATION that from as early as 6:30 a.m. they lined up at the Brighton barrel facility in St Michael to clear their belongings, but were frustrated with the long wait and having to deal with only one Customs officer.

Michael Foster, who said he was trying to clear personal effects with Windward Agencies Ltd since last Saturday, said he was at his wits end and “beyond frustrated”.

“I came here Saturday and couldn’t get my stuff. I called back yesterday [Monday] and they told me to come early. I got here around 7:30. I was No. 5 in line; I got the papers at five minutes past eight and it’s minutes to 12 now and I’m still here. I was supposed to start work at 9:30 and I’m still here,” he lamented. (DB)
