The Cheerful Givers Foundation is seeing younger and younger people coming to them for food, even children.

The three-year-old organisation has been distributing food in various locations around Bridgetown every two weeks, and also hosts a special breakfast every Christmas Eve.

The group was in Queen’s Park, The City, yesterday and public relations officer Billie-June Langdon said it was “heartbreaking” to see the changing demographic.

“The need has increased over the years and there’s a greater number of younger persons coming. When I see some of them, it’s heartbreaking. We’ve seen teens and families with babies in arms,” she said, adding the majority of the people they helped were men. (CA)
