Residents in some St Thomas districts say they are having a messy Christmas as the garbage piles up on their streets.
In areas like Porey Spring, Bridgefield, Hillaby and Shop Hill, the cries continue of poor garbage collection, especially at the time of year when people throw out the old to make way for the new.
In Shop Hill, residents said an unsightly, smelly pile of refuse harboured rodents and affected service at the Nazarene Church on the opposite side of the road.
“When they open the church in the morning, you should see the flies. Sometimes we don’t get a [garbage] collection for two weeks. I would like the Ministry of Health to step in; our health is at risk,” one man said. (CA)
