Barbadian squash players Meagan Best and Amanda Haywood are pursuing studies in the United States, but are still making their mark on the courts.

The two former The St Michael School students enrolled in American institutions a few months ago and both are back home for the Christmas holidays.

Speaking to THE NATION, Best, a two-time senior Caribbean women’s champion, pointed out that balancing her studies at her new high school, Choate Rosemary Hall, in Wallingford, Connecticut, and training have been a bit challenging, but also rewarding.

“It’s different coming from Barbados and being exposed to this diverse culture and so on. It took some adjusting. Then, being by myself and not having my parents to make a schedule for me, I had to manage my time a lot more, but I like it a lot, actually,” she said. (RG)
