Barbados Pride captain Shamarh Brooks has been invited to a training camp to prepare for the forthcoming opening Test against England at Kensington Oval.

Cricket West Indies has not made an official announcement on the squad but investigations by NATIONSPORT on Wednesday revealed that the stylish Brooks will take part in next week’s camp ahead of the first Test against Joe Root’s England team slated for January 23.

Brooks, 30, has never been close to Test selection, but he has come through the ranks as a batsman and leader at the youth, regional level and the ‘A’ team.

He was captain of the West Indies Youth team at the 2008 Youth World Cup in Kuala Lumpur, and has led the West Indies ‘A’ team. (MK)
