West Indies, who won the toss and opted to bat first, were 25 without loss after ten overs on the opening day of the first cricket Test against England here at Kensington Oval on Wednesday.
Left-handed Jamaica Scorpions opening batsman John Campbell, was selected for his Test debut after the Windies omitted left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican and his uncapped Barbados Pride captain Shamarh Brooks from their 13-man squad.
Campbell, who received his cap just before the start of play from legendary former West Indies captain Sir Garfield Sobers, was on 20 not out with his partner Kraigg Brathwaite on five.
England left out the experienced fast bowler Stuart Broad, left-arm spinner Jack Leach, fast bowlers Mark Wood and Chris Woakes as well as batsman Joe Denly from their touring party.
