West Indies fall short of 300

West Indies, resuming from 264 for eight overnight in their first innings, were dismissed for 289 by England an hour before lunch on the second day of the first cricket Test at Kensington Oval here on Thursday.

Shimron Hetmyer, who resumed from 54, went on to make 81 before he was last out, caught by wicket-keeper Ben Foakes off all-rounder Ben Stokes, who ended with four for 59 off 25.3 overs.

Hetmyer struck nine fours and two sixes off 109 balls in 157 minutes at the crease. Veteran James Anderson finished with five for 46 in 30 overs.
