City strife spillover fear

There is a fear that the deadly gunplay ripping apart two City areas and panicking residents could worsen.

As one of the worse turf wars heats up between the New Orleans and Chapman Lane factions, information suggests the two rivals are attempting to woo other hot spots in a power bid. Insiders said that the brutal clashes are rooted in long-running accusations of stolen drugs.

A senior police source, speaking under anonymity, said authorities were concerned that the innocent will get caught more and more in the dangerous crossfire as the bitter rivals try to draw others into their “war”. Crime fighters are beseeching witnesses to break the street code of silence and give up the shooters and any other criminals.

“We want the people to give us the information. If not [directly] to the police, then call the confidential Crime Stoppers. Remember, today for me and tomorrow for you,” the officer warned.

The police are continuing to swoop down on motorists in their stop-and-search operations. Yesterday, the Anti-gun Tactical Response Unit detained at least three men after finding a gun and ammunition in the car in which they were travelling along 2nd Avenue, Harts Gap, St Matthias.

A heavily-armed unit also descended on a residence in Eden Lodge and carried out a search. (Nation News Team)
