BRIDGETOWN – Captain Jason Holder was on a career-best unbeaten 155 and wicket-keeper Shane Dowrich was on 97 as the West Indies built up a massive lead of 561 runs against England at tea on the third day of the first Wisden Trophy cricket Test at Kensington Oval here Friday.
At the interval, the West Indies, who claimed a healthy first innings lead of 212 runs after routing England for 77, reached 349 for six off 92 overs in their second innings.
It was the third Test century and first at his Kensington Oval home venue for Holder, who has so has struck 19 fours and five sixes in his 196-ball innings, which has spanned 245 minutes.
Holder and Dowrich, like they did in the morning period, again batted the entire post-lunch session as they extended their unbroken seventh wicket partnership to 229 runs – a record against England.
Dowrich, who needs just three more runs to complete a third Test century, has so far hit eight fours and a six off 191 balls in five hours at the crease.
Off-spinner Moeen Ali has been England’s most successful bowler with three for 61 off 16 overs while all-rounder Ben Stokes has two for 63 in 23 overs.
