An 18-year-old male is in police custody in connection with three murders which occurred between December and this month.

A senior police officer said that they were questioning the teenager in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found at River bay, St Lucy; Dr Sarah Sutrina, a lecturer at the University of the West Indies; and Tyrone Austin of Free Hill, Black Rock, St Michael.

Dr Sutrina’s partially clothed body was discovered on January 22 at Northumberland, St Lucy, lying next to her vehicle while Austin’s body was discovered on December 18, through a track at Paradise Heights, St Michael. The 68-year-old man was said to have several facial injuries and was almost unrecognisable.

The police have not issued any reports, including identification in respect of the woman whose body was found at River Bay. However it is understood that the teenage suspect is a relative. (MB)
