PERCEPTION of public sector corruption in Barbados has not declined, but it is the lowest in the Caribbean.

That’s based on the 2018 Corruption Perceptions Index of Transparency International.

The ranking placed Barbados at 25 out of 180 countries for the second successive year, with a score of 68 out of 100.

The island also scored 68 in 2017 and 61 the previous year, and based on the 2018 Index, it was least corrupt in the Americas after Canada (9) with a score of 81, the United States (22) and Uruguay (23), with scores of 71 and 70, respectively.

In the Caribbean, Barbados ranks highest, followed by The Bahamas at 28, St Vincent and the Grenadines (41), Dominica (45), St Lucia (50), Grenada (53), Jamaica (70) and Trinidad and Tobago (78). (SC)
