This is going to be a historic year for Barbados in bodybuilding and fitness competitions.
That’s because a pro qualifier and a pro contest will be held here for the first time. It is the Darcy Beckles Diamond Cup Barbados onJuly 6 at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Conference Centre.
This means that some of this country’s top competitors such as Martinus Durrant, Shaquile Lavine, Shakira Doughlin and Hadley Hoyte, can seek pro cards at home.
Former national men’s physique champion Ryan Haynes, who is now clear to compete after a two-year suspension ended last October, can launch his comeback at the pro qualifier which will have entrants from Europe, North American and the Caribbean. (MK)
