The Anton Norris zone heavyweights, All Saints Primary, marched to their fifth straight boys title, but the girls toppled over when Hillaby Turners Hall ended their reign by five points yesterday at the National Primary School Athletics Championships (NAPSAC) at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.
Spearheaded by the imposing Amari Browne who smashed three individual records and made an exceptional showing in the Boys’ 800 sprint medley, for the team to erase a seven-year record, they captured the title with 249 points, 120 points more than Hillaby Turners Hall (129) and St Judes (105).
Joint victrix ludorum of Hillaby Turners Hall, Aniya Nurse, helped her school edge out All Saints 150 to 145 and denying them a sixth successive title. Third was St Lucy Primary with 98 points.
Browne had no competition on track, as his lengthy stride intimidated his peers.
He cruised to the finish in the Boys’ 800 metres open after completing two gruelling laps in a record two minutes, 31.68 seconds. That performance erased the 2017 record of Tristan Gill, who finished in 2:35.31.
