One dead, one injured in New Orleans shooting

The stillness of a lazy Saturday afternoon was abruptly interrupted yesterday when the sound of gunshots rang out in New Orleans, St. Michael.

The incident left 31-year-old Lorenzo Joseph, of Chapman Lane, St Michael and Goodland Park, Christ Church, with injuries to his body and a second victim, 25-year-old Rio Walkes, of Sobers Lane, St. Michael, was also shot.

Both male victims were transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by private ambulance.

Police confirmed that prior to his arrival at QEH Joseph succumbed to his injuries however, Walkes’ condition was still unknown.

An adult male is assisting police with the on-going investigations. (Nationnews)
