The bottom line is this: No matter what life tosses your way, do these things and do them in this order: Fall to your knees and cry, stop crying, dust yourself off and start over. Reintegrate. Whatever your ashes are, emerge from them as a better version of yourself.

Nothing can prepare you for the moment when you fall into a dark and desolate space.

Losing a child or family member, your job, your home or even your business can be hard.

How we recover and rebuild from these moments is what determines our character, integrity and potential. Starting over is a must, either by choice or due to forces beyond our control. Failure may occur, but it’s never the end of the story.

For me, 2018 was a challenging year. I was required to adapt to situations that were not ideal, lost contact with long-time friends and, at one point, closed myself off to those who only had my best interests in mind.

Could I have handled things better? Most definitely.

Would I have done it differently if given the chance? Absolutely not.
