Children as young as eight years old are experiencing kidney failure. In addition, diabetes and hypertension are causing end stage renal disease in those 20 to 30 years old.

This comes from the peritoneal dialysis coordinator, nurse Marselles Sealy, and consultant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Dr Nerissa Jurawan, who debuted a dialysis machine, the “Home Choice Claria”, at the Peritoneal Dialysis Unit, QEH on Thursday.

“We have children, some as young as eight years old, to teenagers aged 17 or 18 years old,” Sealy revealed.

She noted that there were several people who suffered from hypertension and diabetes which were the main causes of renal disease. (HLE)
