UPDATE: Police investigating death at Portvale

Police have confirmed the death of a Caucasian man earlier today at Portvale Sugar Factory.

Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss confirmed that the man, a subcontractor, was working on the roof of the building when he fell to his death.

Inniss said they are treating it as a freak accident.

The name and age of the deceased have not yet been released, as the next of kin have not yet been identified. However he is believed to be a British national.

At present the body is still on the scene as police carry out their investigations.

Work at the factory has been stopped. (DB)
