Friday is the final day of work for 80 employees of the Transport Board as major restructuring continues at the cash-strapped Government agency.

On Thursday, reliable sources told Starcom Network that those workers opted for voluntary separation or an early retirement.

Negotiations between the board of management of the Transport Board and the Barbados Workers’ Union are ongoing with a meeting slated to take place this morning at the union’s headquarters at Solidarity House, Harmony Hall St Michael.

When contacted chairman of the Transport Board Gregory Nicholls declined to comment stating that he did not want to prejudice the outcome of the meeting. (SB)

  1. Wow, I hope the workers are at the age to retirement!

And don’t have to go on the unemployment line?

And in addition, the settlement is enough to invest and take care of their financial needs!

Should they have to look for work!
