Experience and the outstanding performances by the senior players played an important role in Barbados’ double crown success in the recent Cricket West Indies Women’s Championships in Guyana.

That was underscored by first-time captain Hayley Matthews and coach Ezra Moseley in separate interviews at the Grantley Adams International Airport yesterday evening after the triumphant team returned, where president of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) Conde Riley led the welcoming party.

“I think our senior players really stepped up. We saw amazing performances from Deandra Dottin, Kycia Knight, Shamilia Connell. All our senior players really played their part and helped to pull the team to victory,” said Matthews.

Former captain Shakera Selman and Kyshonna Knight, as well as the seasoned pair of Charlene Taitt and Danielle Small also contributed the team’s success. (EZS)
